Mission and Objectives

Casa África each year organises its Essay Prizes on African issues, with which it hopes to recognise, encourage and disseminate original and unpublished essays which will contribute to a better knowledge of the African continent.
The subject varies every year and the subject chosen for 2020 is CLIMATE CHANGE IN ÁFRICA.
This invitation is open to any physical person over 18 years old of any nationality and resident in any country but that has no working and/or professional relationship with Casa África, nor any of the organisations that make it up (Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Spanish Agency of International Development Cooperation, Government of the Canary Islands, and Town Council of Las Palmas of Gran Canaria). The winners of the previous editions may also not participate.
Only one essay per author will be accepted, although the same essay may be written by several authors.
One single prize for an amount of 2,000 euros will be awarded together with the publication of the winning work within the Casa África's Essay Collection
The essays should be original, unpublished and should not have won a prize or be pending a decision in other competitions or contests and can be presented in Spanish, English, French or Portuguese.
Participate in this 2020 edition.
